The Archdiocese of Regina is located on Treaty 4 Territory. The treaties agreed upon in our past were to ensure that non-indigenous settlers had peaceful use of the land in exchange for certain entitlements and rights. Over time many of the treaty provisions were negated by various governments. Treaties are living agreements - there is no end date.
As Canadians, we have the responsibility to ensure that these constitutional obligations are met. While we can’t turn back time, we invite all to learn more about our shared history, including the Church’s part in the residential school system, and how we can now move forward to become a more inclusive Church.
